Classroom Observations Record Log

Reflection:

I had the opportunity to observe four different classrooms at the Primary School level.  As a school counselor, I am not fortunate enough to see the techniques teachers use to teach their students. 

My first observation was with a seasoned teacher.  She had over 10 years experience as an educator. I observed the students during calendar time.  The students were very well manners and fully engaged in the lesson. My second observation was done with a veteran teacher.  She had over 32 years of experience.  The first thing that I noticed was her classroom management.  The classroom was also very orderly and not cluttered. I observed this class also during calendar time.  The third class that I observed was not very orderly.  Many of the students were walking around and there were discipline issues that were not being resolved.  This teacher had 6 years of experience.  I observed this class during math centers.  The last class that I observed was with a teacher that had three years of experience.  The students were just getting up from their nap time.  The teacher was very orderly and upbeat.  She sang songs with the students while the cleaned up their areas.  Her classroom management skills were impeccable.

This experience was very enlightening because all the teachers that I observed used different teaching techniques while teaching the required curriculum and standards. I also noticed that each teacher had different backgrounds and experiences that helped develop their skills as proficient teachers.
